Did you know that Word files tend to look different on each computer, depending on your version and screen resolution? Manuscript book conversion.

It’s for this reason that we discourage submission of Word files. But we encourage manuscripts to be sent in PDF format. Because it will save as it appears on your screen. This will ensure it’s printed exactly as you wish. You can see how by typing “convert Word file to PDF” in any search engine, or contact us.

If you do submit a Word file manuscript, please ensure it’s in the correct finished page size. And with the margin sizes exactly as you wish.

When using Microsoft Word there are a few things to consider before typing the manuscript. Firstly, very important to set up the page size in the document. Set to that which you want the finished book to be. This will save a lot of extra work further down the line. Secondly ensure the page margins are correct. We usually say 15mm (1.5cm) to be safe, but thats not to say you cannot use your own desired margins.

Manuscript book, choosing the right font and font size is important too. The most common font size used is 11pt and a font Times New Roman. Personally, we feel there are so many nice fonts available. Its worth typing a few sentences on a document and changing them to different fonts. Then printing them out to see what you think works best for you.

Important facts

Getting all this correct before you start. Will mean at the end when you save the file to a PDF, it will be print ready. And exactly as you want it to be for printing and publishing.
